Environmental Policy

As an evolving tree surgery company we do our best to attain high standards of environmental awareness in all our tree and hedge work.

Alternative Work; Some times it is possible, based on experience, to offer alternative recommendations for tree surgery. For example, Roots Tree Surgeon are often asked to remove trees that are blocking light. Often a gentler approach and skilled pruning can solve this problem whilst retaining a healthy and attractive tree. A satisfactory and cheaper alternative.

Where felling is necessary Roots Tree Surgeon try to encourage, where appropriate, leaving a stump or standing deadwood. Deadwood, particularly standing deadwood is an essential and often sadly neglected aspect of ecology, providing much needed habitat to many disappearing species.

Oil an Fuel; Unfortunately use of fossil fuel is unavoidable. We do however try to use biodegradable chain oils where ever possible, particularly around water courses.

Wildlife; Roots Tree Surgeon always try to consider the affect that our work has on wildlife. Trees and hedges provide invaluable habitat for all kinds of creatures. We therefore avoid hedge trimming during nesting season (March till July). At all times our tree surgeons are aware of potential bird nests, bats roosts and other habitat. We try to encourage, where appropriate, leaving of piles of deadwood (habitat piles) to encourage nature.

Recycling

Where ever possible we encourage responsible disposal of waste material. Roots Tree Surgeon endeavour to either chip (for mulch and compost) or shred (for compost) as much waste material as possible.
